The Caps won't get the same satisfaction awarded to the Penguins in 2016-17, when the Pens were able to hang their 2016 championship banner before their home-opener against Washington.

Nevertheless, it's still a moment 44 years in the making, one which will signify the greatest achievement in franchise history.

The Caps' entire 2018-19 regular-season schedule won't be released until Thursday, but from what we're able to gather from home-openers announced around the league, they'll face the Penguins at PPG Paints Arena on Thursday, Oct. 4, and the Devils at Prudential Center on Thursday, Oct. 11.
