Another member of the Washington Capitals' Stanley Cup-winning squad has hit the road.
After tallying 11 points and a -13 in 64 games a season ago, Stephenson was a bit of a long shot to make the Caps roster this season, but injuries to other forwards kept him in D.C. But with ajust four points through 24 games and the Capitals financial restrictions, the trade is no surprise.
The Caps drafted Stephenson with a third-round pick (77th overall) in the 2012 NHL Draft. He scored 14 goals and tallied 19 assists for Washington in 168 games. He tallied seven points in 24 playoff games during the Caps' Stanley Cup run.
