The Nats were 0-3 on the season against the Mets heading into this week's series.

After seven innings Monday, the Mets led 6-1, so it sure looked like they'd win their fourth game in four tries against the Nats.

Which is perhaps why former MLB pitcher, and current MLB Network talking head, Dan Plesac felt safe chirping on Twitter about how badly the Mets were owning the Nats in 2018.

Wow ... the .@Mets are letting the Nats know who their daddy is right now ... 3 game sweep in DC last week and now lead 6-1 lead T8th I. Game 1 of this 3 game series. DeGrom nasty so far tonight. pic.twitter.com/Z3YyXHn8jS

Unfortunate for Plesac, he couldn't foresee a six-run rally by the Nats in the top of the eighth, or the Nats tacking on an insurance run in the ninth, to escape with an 8-6 victory. Or, another way of phrasing it, a complete meldown by the paternal Mets.

#Nats go to 48-16 at Citi Field since Sept of 2011. I’m pretty sure you have the parents mixed up https://t.co/W14vaH4ELi
