Washington D.C. has added another former Ohio State quarterback: Cardale Jones has been assigned to the DC Defenders of the XFL.
Jones, who won a national championship with the Buckeyes in 2015, was one of eight QBs the league assigned to each of the teams ahead of the XFL draft.
The draft, which will take place over the next two days, will fill the 71-man roster. And the Defenders used the first overall pick in the skill phase (RB, WR, TE, and QB) on WR Rashard Davis from James Madison before taking William & Mary and former Redskins WR Tre McBride.

October 15, 2019 The Buffalo Bills selected Jones with a fourth-round pick (139th overall) in the 2016 NFL draft, but he did not catch on there and was dealt to the Los Angeles Chargers in 2017. Jones appeared in one NFL regular-season game with the Bills in 2016, completing six of 11 passes for 96 yards and an interception.
More recently, in four games with the Chargers in the 2019 preseason, the 6-foot-5 QB went 28-for-41 for 357 yards and one TD, good for a 103.4 rating.
