The Nationals optioned right-handed pitcher Erick Fedde to Double-A Harrisburg and recalled infielder Adrian Sanchez from the same affiliate Monday.
Fedde, 26, held the line in his first appearance of the season for the Nationals on Sunday, pitching four scoreless innings in relief of starter Jeremy Hellickson, who gave up six runs – five earned – in three innings against the Padres. The Nationals came back to win, 7-6. It was one of the few flawless bullpen efforts of the season for the Nats. Fedde is 2-0 with a 2.66 ERA in four starts this season for Double-A Harrisburg.

April 29, 2019 Sanchez, 28, joins the Nationals for his second Major League assignment of the season. He was with the Nationals for four games (April 3-7) immediately following Trea Turner's injury, but did not appear in a game. He has hit .276 with three doubles, one triple, one homer and six RBI in 16 games at Harrisburg.
The Nationals (12-14, 4th in NL East) host the Cardinals for a four-game series beginning Monday night.
