This may be the end of the road for Jay Beagle and the Capitals.

Multiple teams in on Jay Beagle but looks like VAN is front runner to land the UFA centre who is expected to leave WSH for a multi-year deal on July 1.

Beagle could almost certainly do better on the open market. And Caps have prospects who could play at 4C. Is he, at 32, willing to take a pay cut to stay? And do the Caps want to squeeze a forward prospect out to keep him one more year? I think it's all still TBD.

Originally an undrafted free agent, Beagle spent four partial seasons in Hershey before sticking with the Capitals during the 2010-11 season. He made his NHL debut for the Caps in Feb. 2009. He's recorded 116 points (on 51 goals, 65 assists) in 10 seasons with the Caps.

Beagle is coming off a three-year, $5.25 million contract and should earn more in free agency.

Further to @TSNBobMcKenzie report that the #Canucks are frontrunners to land Jay Beagle.Sources tell me that Beagle contract could look like 3 years and 2.5 million dollars per year.
