Nationals outfield prospect Juan Soto made
his first Major League start a memorable one, smashing a 422-foot, opposite-field home run - a three-run blast - on the first pitch he saw in Monday's 10-2 romp of San Diego.
Soto, just 19, more than made up for the strikeout he recorded in his first MLB at-bat the night before.

May 22, 2018 Not only did Soto go opposite field in his first big-league home run, he did it against a lefty, the most improbable of outcomes. Padres left-handed starter Robbie Erlin, heading into Monday's game, had allowed only two home runs off left-handed hitters in his career. Soto became the third.
And what a treat for the boys back home.
The Nats put tonight’s game on for their youngsters at their academy in the Dominican Republic. If you thought this crowd went wild when Soto homered... well, this is pretty special. pic.twitter.com/SKROdB2oox

May 22, 2018 Soto ended his first start going 2-for-4, also slipping a single into center field in the sixth.
The Marlins won one of their World Series titles 364 days before Soto was born and the other on his 5th birthday.
