Kendall Fuller returns to Redskins on four-year deal
Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

At the end of a quiet first day, the Redskins made a free agency splash, reaching an agreement to sign their former draft pick, cornerback Kendall Fuller.

The news was first reported by Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports and was later confirmed by ESPN's John Keim.

Hearing former Skins draft pick Kendall Fuller heading back there on a free agent contract. Was a part of the Chiefs trade with Washington for Alex Smith

Skins pretty fired up to get Fuller back. Smart; versatile. Can play both in/out at CB and at FS when coverage dictates. My 2 cents: Always loved talking to him in the past because he could explain why he'd make a play on field so well. Why? Because of film study. Anticipation

Washington's third-round pick in 2016, Fuller played his first two NFL seasons with the Redskins before being dealt to Kansas City in the Jan. 2018 traded that brought quarterback Alex Smith to Washington.

Fuller helped seal the victory for the Chiefs in Super Bowl LIV earlier this year, intercepting Jimmy Garoppolo on the 49ers' final offensive drive.

The deal won't become official until the new league year begins on Wednesday. Teams are allowed to negotiate new free agent contracts now in the NFL's legal tampering window.

NFL Media reports Fuller's deal is for four years and $40 million.

#Chiefs FA CB Kendall Fuller, a versatile defensive piece, is headed to the #Redskins, per me and @TomPelissero. He gets a four-year deal worth roughly $40M.

The Redskins also re-signed linebacker Jon Bostic to a two-year deal earlier Monday and landed former Falcons guard Wes Schweitzer to a reported three-year, $13.5 million deal.
