Grant Paulsen trotted out his off-the-cuff Obama impression on the Grant & Danny Show Wednesday.
Early returns: not good.
@granthpaulsen I love ya, but that Barack needs a bit of work. To coin a phrase here, its 'a hurtin'.
— Enoch Boateng (@blakbro2k) April 4, 2018@granthpaulsen @funnydanny @BrendanDarr GPs Obama sounds like William Shatner
— The REAL Guylo-Ren (@CWellion) April 4, 2018Thank you!
— Grant Paulsen (@granthpaulsen) April 4, 2018"You're in your own head a little bit, I think. You're in your own head a little bit," Danny soothed his co-host, a little bit. "I don't know what happened. You were closer before."
"I was. I was doing the impression all last night driving through his neighborhood and I was killin' it," Grant assured. "Felt better then."
There's perhaps an explanation: You weren't killin' it.
This offers a painful reminder of the first time Grant tried out his Obama impression, which sounded a decent bit more like Jay Gruden, and went so badly, Grant all-out bailed on it halfway through and just finished the aside in his normal speaking voice. All the while sitting next to a guy who's so damn good at impressions, a professional football team threatened suit!
Which brings us to Grant's Sebastian Maniscalco impression.
"Oh, my Sebastian Maniscalco's perfect." Ehhhhhh.... not so much.
I dunno. Maybe, like, I dunno. Maybe no more impressions for awhile.
