It will take more than a broken nose to stop Mad Max.
Max Scherzer, a day removed from taking a baseball to the face during a bunting drill, mowed down 10 Philadelphia Phillies over seven shutout innings.
With the Nats up 1-0 thanks to a Brian Dozier homer, Scherzer entered the 7th protecting a 1-0 lead. And after allowing a leadoff double, Scherzer set down Brad Miller, Andrew Knapp and J.T. Realmuto to kill any Philadelphia scoring chance.
