Metro has delivered on its promise to create commemorative SmarTrip cards, in honor of T.J. Oshie and the Capitals winning the 2018 Stanley Cup championship.
Oshie rode Metro to Capital One Arena for Games 3 and 4 of the Stanley Cup Final, and, before Game 4, famously came up short in his SmarTrip fare.
That's when WMATA made a promise: Deliver the Stanley Cup, and it would deliver commemorative SmarTrip cards in his honor.

"Like the Caps, Metro brings the region together, and this special SmarTrip card is a great way for riders, fans and players to show their Caps pride."
The commemorative cards will be sold for the standard $10 price, which comes with $8 of pre-loaded Metro fare.
Production of the limited-edition cards is underway, but fans are told to expect several weeks for their delivery. They can be purchased on WMATA's website.
