2019 may finally be the year Nationals third baseman Anthony Rendon is named an All-Star.
There are still
questions about Rendon's future with the Nats, but there's no doubt he's been one of the best hitters in the National League this season. Entering Monday, he led the NL in doubles, had the fourth-best on-base percentage and OPS, and ranked No. 5 in batting average and slugging percentage. All this despite a stint on the injured list with a left elbow contusion.
If he keeps up this level of production, it's increasingly likely Rendon makes his first All-Star team. But that begs the question: does Rendon actually
care about making an All-Star team?

May 27, 2019 "Sure, I'd love to be an All-Star," Rendon told reporters Sunday. "But without going, if that's possible."
Rendon's humorous response is honestly quite relatable. It's one thing if the All-Star Game is in your home park
like it was last season for the Nats. But the All-Star break provides MLB players their lone extended period of rest during the long, grueling 162-game season. Unless, of course, you're an All-Star.
Not to mention the fact this year's All-Star Game is in Cleveland. We'd choose a staycation over a trip to Cleveland too, Anthony.
