The Nationals have recalled right-handed reliever Austin Adams from Triple-A Fresno and placed righty reliever Austen Williams on the 10-day Injured List.
Williams, 26, made two relief appearances for the Nationals, recording one out and allowing six earned runs for a 162.00 ERA, since being recalled from Fresno on April 13. He goes to the IL – retroactive to April 18 – with a sprained right AC joint.
Adams, 27, has recorded one save and retired all but two batters faced, allowing one hit and one walk, on the way to 12 strikeouts and a 0.00 ERA in five relief appearances (6.0 innings) at Triple-A Fresno. This is his first Major League assignment of 2019. Adams allowed no runs on just one hit in two appearances (1.0 inning) for the Nationals in 2018.
The Nationals begin a three-game series against the Marlins Friday, with first pitch scheduled for 7:10 p.m.
