Catcher Matt Wieters returns to the Nationals lineup after nearly two months on the disabled list.
Wieters, 32, was placed on the DL with a left hamstring strain on May 11, an injury which required surgery. He returns after logging two rehab games with Washington's Class-AA affiliate Harrisburg over the weekend.
In 23 games prior to his DL stint, Wieters hit .231 with one double, three home runs and seven RBI in 2018.
In a corresponding move, the Nats optioned 24-year-old catcher Pedro Severino to Triple-A Syracuse. Severino appeared in 63 games this season, hitting .171 with nine doubles, two home runs and 15 RBI.
Wieters will bat eighth – behind right fielder Adam Eaton – Monday as the Nationals open a three-game series in Pittsburgh.
