— Jon Heyman (@JonHeyman) August 21, 2018Washington receives infielder Andruw Monasterio from the Cubs and a player to be named later. Monasterio, a 21-year-old second-base prospect for the Class-A Myrtle Beach Pelicans, is hitting .263 with 14 doubles, two triples, three home runs and 31 RBI in 109 games.
The Nats last Friday placed Murphy, Adams, Bryce Harper, Gio Gonzalez and Mark Reynolds on revocable waivers, according to Chelsea Janes. Teams that put in claims – and at least Harper, Murphy and Adams were claimed, Janes reported – had until Tuesday afternoon to work out a trade with Washington.
The Nats are receiving cash considerations from the Cardinals for Adams, according to Jon Heyman.
