Recently fired Giants head coach Pat Shurmur could be in the mix for the Redskins' vacant offensive coordinator position, a source tells 106.7 The Fan's Grant Paulsen.
One surprising name being discussed internally for the #Redskins' OC job is Pat Shurmur, I'm told. The recently fired Giants head coach is one of the names being considered in the event that Kevin O'Connell doesn't return.

New Redskins head coach Ron Rivera has yet to decide on an offensive coordinator, but that hasn't stopped him from filling out other positions on his staff.
Shurmur was let go last week after the Giants finished 4-12 and outside the playoffs for the second straight season under his guidance. Shurmur went 9-23 in New York. He was the offensive coordinator for the Vikings when they advanced to the conference championship in 2017.
Minnesota went 13-3 that season with a high-powered offensive led by, coincidentally enough, Case Keenum. Rivera and Shurmur have worked together previously in Philadelphia (1999-2003), where Rivera served as linebackers coach and Shurmur coached the tight ends, offensive line and eventually quarterbacks.
Kevin O'Connell, who was promoted to offensive coordinator for the 2019 season, has already been interviewed by Rivera for the same position.
Panthers offensive coordinator Scott Turner, the son of former Redskins head coach Norv Turner, was also said to be interviewing for the offensive coordinator position, as reported on Friday by NFL Media's Ian Rapoport, who says Scott Turner could also end up as Washington's quarterbacks coach.
#Panthers OC Scott Turner is interviewing with new #Redskins coach Ron Rivera today for the vacant OC job, source said. Incumbent Kevin O’Connell is considered the favorite, but Turner, whose work impressed this year, could potentially end up as his QB coach if he’s not the OC.
— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) January 3, 2020Both O'Connell and Turner's interviews have already taken place, Paulsen adds.
Former Panthers OC Scott Turner and holdover Redskins OC Kevin O'Connell have already interviewed for the job. Shurmur is the other name in the mix. Position assistants are being brought in without a coordinator named yet.
