The Redskins have acquired third-year quarterback Kevin Hogan from the Browns and swapped a pair of sixth-round draft picks.
In the deal, the Redskins send their 2018 sixth-round selection (188 overall) to Cleveland and get back the 205th overall pick, which Cleveland acquired from New England in a March deal involving Jason McCourty. So, the Redskins move back 17 spots to acquire Hogan, a young quarterback who can be groomed behind veteran Alex Smith.
A fifth-round pick by Kansas City in 2016, Hogan was released by the Chiefs as a final roster cut his and picked up by the Browns his rookie season. In limited opportunities -- eight games (one start) -- Hogan's passed for 621 yards (59.4 completion percentage), four touchdowns and seven interceptions over two seasons in Cleveland. He threw for 9,385 yards, 75 touchdowns and 29 interceptions in four seasons at Stanford.
Hogan, 25, is a Northern Virginia native who played high school football at Gonzaga.
