In the land of 'that escalated quickly, Quinton Dunbar has reportedly requested to be traded by the Redskins, news that comes mere hours after JP Finlay reported Dunbar did not intend to participate in OTAs.
"Redskins corner Quinton Dunbar has requested to be traded or released, according to a source," ESPN's John Keim reported Monday night. "Dunbar spoke with a member of the Redskins' administration tonight. He had been in talks with the previous regime about an extension but he had not had any contact with the Redskins since the hiring of coach Ron Rivera."
That Dunbar's issue is contractual is a noted escalation from reports earlier in the day, when Finlay indicated the fifth-year corner wanted to avoid risking injury this spring.
"One source explained that for many Redskins players, watching linebacker Reuben Foster go down with a potentially career-ending knee and leg injury in last year's OTAs left a significant impression about the value of voluntary work," Finlay reported Monday morning. "It's unclear that Dunbar would even want a new contract now or if he would prefer to face unrestricted free agency one year from now."

Originally undrafted out of Florida, former Redskins coach Jay Gruden converted Dunbar – then a wide receiver – into a corner his rookie season. Since 2015, Dunbar has quietly transformed into one of the top players at his position and undoubtedly will command a big pay day, whenever he's allowed to reach free agency.
It's an interesting development, to say the least. Free agency begins on March 18.
