No doubting Haskins' toughness after playing through ankle injury

The Washington Redskins got pretty well banged up during their 20-15 loss to the Green Bay Packers.

Injuries sidelined running back Derrius Guice, linebacker Ryan Kerrigan, linebacker Ryan Anderson, and defensive backs Fabian Moreau and Quinton Dunbar for a time.

So when Redskins rookie Dwayne Haskins sustained an injury to his ankle in the second quarter. The injury appeared to take place during this hit.

And with Haskins' liming it looked like Case Keenum was set to return to the lineup.

Haskins was even having trouble on run plays after handing the ball off.

However, Haskins did not come out despite playing with a big limp for the rest of the contest.

“There was no way I was coming out of the game,” Haskins said after the game.

Immediately, questions were raised, not about Haskins, but about the responsibility of the coaching staff and team president Bruce Allen in keeping the rookie in the game.

Haskins can't even hand the ball off without limping. This is so dumb.

Why is Dwayne Haskins still on the field? He could not even move in the pocket to avoid the rush there. This is officially ridiculous. The dude is too hurt to move.

This is why teams have GM's, too. It would be 100% appropriate for a GM (or in the #Redskins case, Bruce) to go down to the locker room and meet with the HC and say "pull the kid."Someone needs to be in charge of the long term. That person is a GM.

Should this cost interim head coach Bill Callahan his job? That's what Richmond Times-Dispatch's Michael Phillips wondered.

No interim head coach has ever been fired. This is a fireable offense in my opinion.

The rookie's toughness is unassailable, but the decision from Callahan still seemed misguided.

I will not question Dwayne's toughness. At all. But I will question why he's out there, even if he looks a little better

Haskins is tough as nails gutting this out, but he's clearly immobile and that puts him at a much bigger risk of getting hit.

— Craig Hoffman (@CraigHoffman) December 8, 2019

Whether you think Haskins should be out there or not, these are leadership moments. Showing teammates he's gonna fight through injuries.

— Kareem Copeland (@kareemcopeland) December 8, 2019

Give Dwayne Haskins credit for gutting through an ankle injury and playing through obvious pain. He also took several huge shots today. If anybody ever questions his toughness show them tape of this game. #Redskins

After the game, it was a slow, walk to the Skins' locker room at Lambeau Field.
