The 2019 NFL season is still months away, but moves right now will have a big impact on the Washington Redskins season.
Here is a rundown of the key free agent moves and transactions around the league that will affect the Redskins in 2019.
REDSKINS MOVES
OL Ereck Flowers
The Giants' first-round pick in 2015, Flowers never lived up to his potential in New York and was released last October. After a brief stint in Jacksonville, Flowers joins the Redskins on a reported one-year, $4 million deal.
WR Brian Quick
The veteran wideout is back for a third season in Washington,
his agency announced Monday. Quick started three games for the Redskins in 2018, catching three passes.
Adrian Peterson, after revitalizing his career in 2018, has re-signed with the Redskins, Craig Hoffman confirms. (
contract details).
Even before the NFL's "legal tampering period" began, the Redskins
added a quarterback via a trade with the Denver Broncos, sending a sixth-round pick in the 2020 draft for Case Keenum and a seventh-round pick in 2020.
Washington made an early splash in free agency, signing Landon Collins to a
massive six-year, $84 million deal with $44.5 million in partial guarantees. The Redskins were able to get the deal done despite their salary cap crunch thanks to some contract wizardry, and
the hard-hitting safety will only carry a $4 million cap hit in 2019.
106.7 The Fan's Craig Hoffman reported the Redskins have tendered Byron Marshall and the running back accepted (
contract details).
REDSKINS LOSSES
A versatile reserve lineman for the Redskins over the last four seasons, Ty Nsekhe signed a reported two-year, $14.5 million deal ($7.7 million in guarantees) with the Bills.
The Redskins lost Jamison Crowder, their fourth-round pick in 2015, who signed with the New York Jets (
contract details).
On the second day of the tampering period, Washington lost pass rusher Preston Smith to the Green Bay Packers (
contract details).
After coming over in the middle of the 2018 season in a trade with the Packers, Clinton-Dix heads to the Chicago Bears (
details).
MISSED OPPORTUNITIES
The Redskins were reportedly
a "possible" landing spot for the former Steelers running back, but Bell ended up with the favored Jets, agreeing to a four-year, $52.5 million deal ($35 million guaranteed) to join New York.
ILB C.J. Mosley
Washington
was in the market for the top inside linebacker, but after making a significant financial commitment to Landon Collins, fell out of the race for C.J. Mosley, who signed a massive five-year, $85 million deal ($51 million guaranteed) with the Jets.
Former Redskins wide receiver DeSean Jackson heads back to another of
his former teams in a trade that sent him from the Buccaneers to the Eagles.
WR John Brown
In need of offensive weapons, wide receiver John Brown may have been a fit in Washington, but he signed a three-year, $27 million deal with the Buffalo Bills.
I really liked John Brown as a candidate for the Redskins but if he is out here getting $9M a year I'm going to sit another few days out at WR I think. Scare market may force me to draft a wideout in first two rounds.

March 12, 2019 WR Cole Beasley
Redskins get a boost with Cole Beasley leaving their NFC East rivals in Dallas, but nothing more as the slot receiver signed a deal worth $29 million over four years in Buffalo.
