Daron Payne and Jonathan Allen, Washington's Alabama pair on the D-line, did what they were drafted to do, combining for six tackles and two quarterback hits. And Craig Hoffman expects to continue seeing great things from the Redskins' last two first-round picks.
The defensive plan is working. The picks of DaRon Payne and Jon Allen the last 2 years provided results today. Ezekiel Elliott ran 15 times for just 33 yards.

October 22, 2018 "Their front seven is really good, and it starts with their front four," Hoffman told The Junkies Monday. "Allen and Payne are legit top-flight, potential Pro Bowl, maybe even potential All-Pro players. They are that good, that effective."
"They make everybody's life easier. The corners don't have to cover as long, the linebackers don't have to fight through blocks. And so when those guys can just go out and play, your stars lead and your stars are those two last first-round picks, this is what you get."
After Sunday's win, Washington
has the fifth-best defense in the NFL in terms of yards allowed per game, third-best against the run. And the Allen-Payne combo up front certainly deserves a healthy portion of the credit.
