Chase Young will be the Washington Redskins pick everyone remembers from the 2020 NFL Draft. But he can't alone bring the Redskins out of the wilderness.
The early rounds of the NFL Draft have all the glamour, but if the Redskins are going to be a winner again, new head coach
Ron Rivera will need to grab some great players in the later rounds. After selecting
'Swiss Army Knife' Antonio Gibson with the team's lone pick on Day 2 of the draft, the Redskins made six picks on the final day. Here are the newest members of the Redskins:
Moments after trading Trent Williams for a pair of draft picks to the San Francisco 49ers, the Redskins selected his replacement out of LSU. See 106.7 The Fan's Chris Lingebach's
extensive breakdown of Charles for the full details on the 6-foot-5 left tackle.
Round 4, 142nd overall: Antonio Gandy-Golden, WR, Liberty
"The Redskins landing WR Antonio Gandy-Golden at Pick 142 is an excellent value," NFL analyst Field Yates
tweeted. "In other years, he'd be off the board much sooner. The loaded WR class impacted him. He's a stud."
Well, that is encouraging news about the Redskins newest playmaker, a 6-foot-4, 223-pound wide receiver out of Liberty. At the combine, he ran an unofficial 4.6 40-yard dash, completed 22 reps on the bench press, had a 36" vertical leap, and broad jumped 127 inches.
Last season at Liberty, Gandy-Golden caught 79 passes for 1396 yards and 10 touchdowns. That followed a 10 TD season in 2018 when he tallied 1037 yards on 71 catches in 2018. He
told reporters he got down on his drops in college after Liberty brought in a new WR coach: "We got a new receiver coach. .. emphasized the Jugs machine every day, great catching drills. Just paying attention to small things helped me out a lot."
Antonio Gandy-Goldman is massive (6-foot-4). 1400 yards at Liberty last year. College star. Loved him at that level. One concern is explosiveness/ speed. But I love taking a shot on him. Two weapons added for Haskins. Three offensive players since Chade Young.

April 25, 2020 Round 7, 216th overall: Kamren Curl, Safety, Arkansas
The Redskins stuck with defense with their first pick of the 7th round, grabbing Kamren Curl out of Arkansas. Curl, a 6-foot-1, 206 pound safety ran a 4.6 40-yard dash at the combine and had a 34.5" vertical leap with a 125 inch broad jump.
In his junior season in 20111 for the Razorbacks, Curl started all 11 games at strong safety and had 76 total tackles (46 solo) with two interceptions, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and four sacks.
Curl gained a bit of fame during his sophomore season when he was one of two players suspended for Arkansas' season finale because he was "socializing with Mississippi State's dance team before" the game. The Razorbacks would go on to lose 52-6.
Kamren Curl: "I play fast around the ball. I got a good football IQ. I learn defenses really fast and I like taking the ball away."And he played CB and S at Arkansas: "I'm one of the more versatile DBs in the draft."

Ron Rivera's final pick of his first draft as a Redskins coach was another defensive player: Justin Smith-Williams. A 6-foot-4, 265 pound edge rusher, ran a 4.6 40-yard dash, who completed 28 reps on the bench with a 32 inch vertical and a 123 inches on the broad jump.
During his time with the Wolfpack, injuries were a constant and durability could be a huge issue for him going forward in the NFL. Had just 20 tackles and one sack during an injury-shortened 2019 season. Had 37 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, and six sacks during his 2018 season.
James Smith-Williams on playing in a 4-3: "It gives me a chance to attack. I'm used to getting up the field, using my speed on tackles."
