Rob Kelley injured his toe in Sunday's loss to the Colts and may need surgery, Redskins coach Jay Gruden says.

Gruden said Monday Kelley had the only injury of any significance. He indicated Kelley has a "toe" without clarifying the nature of the injury.

"He hit it pretty good," Gruden said. "So I don't know if he's got to go have surgery or not. It could be month, month-and-a-half type deal. We're getting final word here soon."

The Redskins worked out four or five players at Redskins Park on Monday, which included "some tight ends." One of those players was former Ravens first-rounder Breshad Perriman, a wide receiver.

"He worked out. We had about four or five guys worked out today, some tight ends," Gruden said. "If we were to sign anybody, we'd have to figure out a roster spot, which we're in the process of doing. We don't know who we're going to sign yet. There's a couple good players at that workout."

Btw - this was more of a checkup than anything. They're thin at WR so they need to stock their emergency list. Wanna see if guys are in shape and what they look like. Flashy headline. Not something that's happening soon barring a change. https://t.co/sovd6ielMy

Gruden hinted Kelley's roster spot might become available.

The toe injury for Rob Kelley might be serious. Gruden says he might need surgery and it could be a 4-6 week recovery. Would probably land him on IR. Could fill that roster spot with Bibbs or make a move at WR or TE, where they worked out multiple guys today (including Perriman).

The Redskins also reportedly worked out former Broncos quarterback Paxton Lynch.
