The Redskins will be without Samaje Perine for at least a week.
The second-year running back injured his ankle on his first carry of Thursday's game, a 30-yard gain. According to Mike Garafolo of NFL Media, Perine will miss "at least" a week.
Samaje Perine expected to miss some time with an ankle sprain, likely a week at least, source says. Skins will need camp bodies at some point. https://t.co/XH5TXXo2YO
— Mike Garafolo (@MikeGarafolo) August 17, 2018Compound that with the news on Byron Marshall, who will reportedly miss 2-4 weeks with an ankle injury, and the Redskins are pretty hard-up for running backs before the season has even begun.
The Redskins also lost rookie Derrius Guice for the season to a torn ACL last week. Their non-injured running backs are Chris Thompson, Robert Kelley, Kapri Bibbs and Martez Carter.
Washington's next preseason game is next Friday against the Broncos. If Perine doesn't play, there's a strong chance we won't see him again until Week 1 of the regular season.
