Junior Galette was an open book on Tuesday about his deep regret in declining the Redskins' contract offer in March.

The 30-year-old linebacker told Chad Dukes Washington made him an incentive-based two-year offer worth up to $10 million, which he regrettably turned down, because "my agent and I thought we could get a lot more money on the open market." When Galette – still jobless – reached out to Jay Gruden in August, the Redskins coach told him they didn't have room for him at the time, but would give him a call "if something happens."

On Wednesday, the Redskins placed running back Byron Marshall on injured reserve, freeing a roster spot, which Washington filled by signing a linebacker not named Junior Galette.

Josh Keyes, 25, joins the Redskins by way of the Houston Texans, who cut the 6-foot-2, 227-pound linebacker last week.

Maybe Galette will still get his shot at a Redskins comeback. But it won't be today.
