The 31-year-old has just three combined tackles this season and only played on two special teams snaps in the Redskins win over the Panthers on Sunday. Hood has spent the past three seasons with the Redskins, recording 32 total tackles and 1.5 sacks since signing with Washington in 2016.

The transaction could signal that Stacy McGee is ready to return from the physically unable to perform (PUP) list, as the Redskins would need to create a roster spot for him to return.

My guess is McGee is close to returning and that's who gets the roster spot. Brantley could be ready for the active roster on gameday as well.Ziggy's most important role was leader. With the emergence of Allen as a leader and the maturity of the other guys, it's not as needed.
