A day after helping the Redskins defeat the Packers 31-17, Trent Williams will have minor knee surgery on Monday, 106.7 The Fan's Craig Hoffman confirmed on Sunday.
The procedure was first reported by Erin Hawksworth of ABC 7. According to Hawksworth, Williams is not expected to miss any games, including the Week 5 matchup with the Saints following the Week 4 bye.
Just in: Trent Williams will undergo a very minor procedure tomorrow and is expected to be back for the #MNF game in New Orleans after the bye week. I am told it’s a very minor surgery and nothing to be overly concerned about. #Redskins
— Erin Hawksworth (@ABC7Erin) September 23, 2018Can confirm @ABC7Erin’s report that Trent Williams is having a very minor knee procedure, per source. He very much should be back for New Orleans. @1067theFan
— Craig Hoffman (@CraigHoffman) September 23, 2018Williams had surgery on the same knee during the offseason after injuring it last season. The six-time Pro Bowler still feels some pain there, possibly due to a bone spur.
After the week 2 game, he told @Tarik_ElBashir (who told us on the RCC podcast) that the knee he had a procedure on 9~ months ago was bothering him.Have to wonder if this 'minor procedure' is a clean up of sorts. https://t.co/vj4kEUHyVl
— Chad Ryan (@ChadwikoRCC) September 23, 2018Yes, that is exactly what it is. Probably a bone spur. They need to clean it up. Trent plays through a lot and is not expected to miss a game, but it is surgery. Which is always tough. Hopefully, it all goes well and he is back for the Saints game. https://t.co/IWpSrWSy6l
— Erin Hawksworth (@ABC7Erin) September 23, 2018The Redskins will hope this procedure solves Williams' lingering knee issue and ensures he doesn't have to sit out any games. The bye week may have come at exactly the right time, for Williams and Washington.
