Tress Way is a rarely talked about but key part of the Redskins' success this season, and Washington's punter was named the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week after a stellar performance in Sunday's 16-3 win over the Buccaneers.

This is Way's first career Player of the Week honor.

"Way proved instrumental in setting the Buccaneers back in Washington's 16-3 win over Tampa Bay on Sunday," NFL.com's Jeremy Bergman wrote Wednesday. "The fifth-year punter booted five kicks for a net average of 47.8 yards per punt, downing four punts inside the Bucs' 20-yard line."

His net punt average was the best in the NFL last week, and the four punts inside the 20-yard line was also tops among punters in Week 10. Way is now third in the league with 25 punts inside the 20-yard line.

"He had another outstanding game. He's starting to show off a little bit, I told him today," Jay Gruden said after the game Sunday. "He looks like he's hitting soft 9-irons into the Masters ninth green, for goodness' sakes."
