However, Ross Tucker believes Gruden deserves at least one more year to try and turn Washington around, citing injuries as a key factor in the disappointing finish to the year.
"I'm amazed they're still playing at all, that they're still competitive in these games with Josh Johnson out there," Tucker told The Sports Junkies Friday.
"I guess people think of Jay Gruden as mediocre, I guess I look at it like: this is the first year he's actually had a decent defense, and even when he had (Kirk) Cousins there last year, the O-line got so decimated — this year again."
But while it may not seem like it, other teams are in more dire straits than Washington, Tucker says.
"I know they're not going to the playoffs, but to me at least — the players on the field and the coaches, to a little lesser extent — this is not a team I would be embarrassed by if I were a Redskins fan," the former Redskin said.
"I do a lot of radio hits around the country, and there's a lot of places where it's a lot, lot worse than Washington these days."
