Are the Junkies worthy of being in the DC Sports Hall of Fame?

Doc Walker broadcast live from Nats Park Sunday as this year's class of the DC Sports Hall of Fame was inducted, and on Monday, we found out that Oct. 20 is the date that the Commanders will hold Darrell Green's jersey retirement ceremony in Landover.

A lot of Hall of Fame talk of late, and it led the Junks to wonder on Tuesday: are THEY Hall of Famers?

They think they are, of course, and after 30 years that started on public access TV, saw them spend time as a syndicated show, and now all over DMV radio and TV and our No. 1 most-downloaded show in the Audacy realm, it's hard to disagree.

There IS a radio museum in their hometown of Bowie, too, and Judy, who works there, called in to the guys and they needled her about getting included, which was a fun segment, and the Scotty's Vodka Poll of the Day is a runaway for their induction…

"If they have a museum with seven tiny rooms, one of those rooms should be a Junks-centric room," Cakes said. "It should be dedicated to the biggest radio stars that will ever come out of Bowie, Maryland, right?"

"It's the oldest, goofiest house," EB replied. "If you would have asked me over/under on 20 people for the year, I would've gone under. I asked if they take appointments because no one goes, like, someone has to be there to let you in – and I swear on my kids, that house used to be JP's cleaning lady's house!"

Alright, so that's a shoe-in, it seems, but earlier in the show, when they were discussing Green's retirement and the idea of a Ring of Honor/Hall of Fame type deal when they build a new Commanders stadium, well…

"My little fantasy is the Junks are up there," EB said, as Cakes remembered that our own Dave Johnson just went into the DC Sports Hall of Fame this weekend. "I mean, we're Hall of Famers at some point, right? Life is winding down, we should get the honor, but we're not like in the Cool Kids Club. We can't even get an Emmy for our show!"

"It's getting ridiculous at this point. You guys are the Joe Jacobys of the DC Sports Hall of Fame," Drab said. "You just get disrespected – your impact in this community is huge!"

"It's approaching a 30-year run," Bish said. "What are we, 28? That's absurd in one market! You can keep me out, I just want to get paid like a Hall of Famer!"

Take a listen to it all above!
