Whenever the 2019-2020 Capitals season resumes, they'll be doing it without forward Brendan Leipsic.
The Capitals have placed Leipsic on unconditional waivers, terminating his contract on Friday, one day after screenshots leaked of a private social media conversation, in which Leipsic is seen making lewd and offensive remarks about women and ridiculing current and former teammates.
Leipsic apologized for his remarks, which included calling Capitals linemates Nic Dowd and Garnet Hathaway "losers."
Leipsic was on a one-year, $700,000 deal and was scheduled to become a restricted free agent after the season.
