The Capitals are reportedly adding some wing depth as they continue their push for the top spot in the Eastern Conference playoffs.
According to NHL insider Elliotte Friedman, Washington has acquired Anthony Beauvillier from the Penguins, giving the Caps a bottom six winger with plenty of playoff experience. The 28-year-old was part of an Islanders team that reached the Eastern Conference Final in consecutive seasons, and was in the postseason with Nashville last season.
A former first-round pick, Beauvillier has 13 goals and seven assists in 63 games so far this season. The left winger comes with a $1.3 million cap hit and is on an expiring contract.
According to Chris Johnston of The Athletic, the Capitals are sending a second-round pick back to Pittsburgh in exchange for Beauvillier.
