Perhaps no one outside the Chychrun family or the Capitals organization was happier when Jakob Chychrun signed his eight-year contract extension than Grant Paulsen, who had been stumping for Chickie to stick around every time he called in for his weekly Wednesday show visit.
This week, he finally got the chance to be congratulated, and Chychrun pretty much echoed what GM Chris Patrick had said about how the process came together.
Tress Way, who knows a thing or two about signing contracts to stay in DC, was with GP with Danny out sick this week, and of course, one athlete to another, he had to ask what might be the first thing Jakob will splurge on once his new deal is in effect.
“I'm not really there yet, but I do love golf, I’m a big golfer, so I don’t know, maybe one thing I’d like to do now that we're locked in would be to join a golf course in the area,” Chychrun said. “That’s kind of one thing that I have circled on the list, but my wife and I try to do a good job of not overspending. We’re just pretty simple and homey people, and we don't like to go crazy with our spending. We actually bought a new care a few weeks ago, got my wife her dream car which was a G-wagon, so she lucked out already – I hope she's not going to be asking for anything post-contract!”
