With four regular-season games remaining for the Capitals, Tom Wilson could once again face the wrath of the NHL's Department of Player Safety after his involvement in a skirmish around the net Monday night against the Rangers.
With the Rangers leading 3-2 roughly eight minutes into the second period, Wilson spearheaded a dangerous dustup in front of the net.
Wilson delivered a blow to Pavel Buchnevich while he was prone, face-down on the ice. When other players jumped into the mix, Wilson — back on his feet — appeared to grab Artemi Panarin around the head and launch him back toward the ice.
Wilson was assessed a 10-minute misconduct penalty and four minutes for roughing.
The Capitals rallied to win, 6-3.
