Patterson, 31, had been dealing with the injury prior to Sunday’s win over the Cleveland Browns, where he increasingly saw less action as the game went on.

Patterson had again established himself as the Falcons’ lead back, rushing for 348 yards on 58 carries — an average of 5.8 yards per carry — as well as three touchdowns.

Caleb Huntley, who played on Sunday, was signed to the 53-man roster as the corresponding move while rookie Tyler Allgeier and Avery Williams should also rotate in with Patterson out.
