Fred Smoot knows a thing or two or three about facing elite quarterbacks, and as part of some moribund teams, he knows a thing or two about watching top draft picks come into a pressure cooker because of that status.
Which is why, in the way only The Mouth of the South can, he sort of intimated with a Drew Brees analogy why Shedeur Sanders might be better off if he slips down the draft board:
And even in a deep draft at many positions, there’s only a few quarterbacks, so unlike some other guests on 106.7 The Fan, Smoot doesn’t think Shedeur should drop all the way out of the entire thing.
“I respect everybody's thing, all we're doing is offering up our expertise, but like I said, he reminds me of Drew Brees, who was not the biggest guy, but threw with anticipation and had pocket presence,” Smoot said. “Not everybody's gonna look good on paper, that don’t mean they can’t play this game.”
