Grant Paulsen is cutting the cord next week…but Danny Rouhier just can't quit streaming apps

Danny Rouhier is many things, and as wonderful as most of them are, one that is the consternation of Mrs. Rouhier and the littles is that he is, admittedly, “super frugal and cheap on certain things.”

One of those certain things: streaming services for television, which is kind of a tough sell given that these days, you need five or six of them to be able to see all 400 or so games DC’s six major squads play each year.

“I spend money all the time – I’ll spend 18 bucks on a lunch and not think twice about it – but there’s something that bothers me so much about paying for these streaming services,” Danny said Wednesday. “I love all things Apple – I have a Mac, an iPhone, and Apple Watch – but I have this Apple TV thing, and I haven’t watched a show on Apple TV in five months. I checked last night just for my own sanity.”

The Rouhiers WERE watching a show on Apple TV that is coming back, but he pays “whatever 99 a month” for an unused service…which is the one he hasn’t canceled?

“I was able to cancel Paramount Plus which started a fight in the residence – and we have to get it back now because there's more Yellowstone – but I cannot stand the number of streaming apps,” he said.

Mostly because they just can’t seem to time things right.

“They're very good at doing the following thing three different times,” Danny said. “I've been close to canceling Disney Plus, believe it or not, but they've timed it so that I need the Star Wars content, which is Ahsoka right now, and they’re timing things in a way so I need the next month, too. They’re smart, and they’re winning, and I can’t stand it.”

Grant Paulsen feels so bad for Danny…so bad that he actually cut the cord and is going ALL streaming.

“I have too many apps as well, but I'm actually for the first time in my life going to be completely cable-less after this week, at least for the baseball offseason,” Grant said. “The only reason I had DirecTV for so long was NFL Sunday Ticket, and now I have YouTube TV, but I haven’t watched it once, and I almost certainly won’t watch it much other than watching football, but it’s so much.”

And so, come Sunday night…

“The Nats season ends this week, and the second the final out happens and Bob Carpenter looks at Frannie and says whatever he says, I’m going to be cutting the cord until Opening Day,” Grant said. “I just pray, I'll put my little head on a pillow, and I'm gonna add to my prayers every night that somehow, some way, we can stream Nats games come opening day next year.”

Danny’s sarcastic response was a given, but no cable in the Paulsen home this fall and winter…although, maybe Danny

“Here’s what I’d like to propose, an awesome business idea: people can watch dads canceling things,” he said.

“It's the best feeling in the world,” Grant replied. “That's when I would do my Gronk spike in life, paying bills and just feeling like you're ahead of the game a little bit. You get that dopamine.”

Hmm, maybe a little Grant & Danny extra on the Audacy app for something 99 a month?
