It’s another Feinstein Friday for the Sports Junkies, and this week, John Feinstein chats with the guys about his new book’s first-week sales, the PGA Championship, and 3.

However, a large chunk of the interview was centered around Ja Morant and his latest issues with weapons on Instagram Live, and Feinstein believes Morant should be on the sidelines until at least mid-season.

“He’s gotta get help, and that has to be a condition of anything going forward; it’s just amazing to me,” Feinstein said. “I’m told Ja Morant is not a stupid guy, but what he did was just stupid and potentially dangerous, and I think he has to be suspended for at least half a season. Maybe you leave it open ended and say, ‘come talk to me after 41 games,’ because obviously he didn’t take the eight-game suspension seriously, and fines are meaningless to these guys – take away half a year’s salary isn’t meaningless, but these guys make so much money, not being able to play is what’s going to get these guys.”

A half-season suspension would cost $19 million for Morant, who has also already lost sponsorship revenue with Nike pulling a commercial.
For now, though, both EB and Feinstein believe the NBA needs to find out what Morant’s issue is, whether it’s substance abuse of some sort, psyche, or something else.

That all said, Bish thinks it’s going to be 30 games max on any suspension, which Feinstein can see.

“Adam Silver has tended to be more lenient than David Stern was,” Feinstein was. “Yeah, 30 games is a lot, but you come back before the All-Star break and get the majority of the season, and, because he’s on a good team, presumably the playoffs.”
