Brady House and Seaver King were both Nats first-round picks – House No. 11 overall in 2021, King No. 10 overall in 2024 – and they both played in Friday’s Spring Breakout game, each recording a hit in the Nationals’ 6-6 tie with the Astros prospects.
They’re also both from the same neck of the woods, in the Athens, Georgia, area, and not only that, revealed that they’ve played together long before both coming to the Nats.
“We played travel ball growing up from like, probably 11 to 14, maybe, on the same team; we went to Cooperstown together, drove back from Cooperstown together, so it's a long time coming to be on the same field again,” King said.
But that moment, after House had been in the system for a couple years while King was playing at Wingate and then Wake Forest, was one they shared.
“As soon as he got drafted, I texted him; I was on the road actually, and I was watching the draft on my phone,” House said, “and to see that pull up on my phone was kind of cool. So, yeah, I definitely was happy about that decision and excited that we get to come back and play together, because we played together at a young age and then kind of as we got older, different schools and all that, so it kind of took us away from each other.”
