Nationals slugger Juan Soto, who set a record with his 520-foot home run last year in Colorado, has agreed to participate in this year's Home Run Derby at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles.
Soto starred in the 2021 Home Run Derby, taking eventual AL MVP Shohei Ohtani to a swing-off in the first round and eventually knocking Ohtani out with 31 homers, but would narrowly fall to Mets slugger Pete Alonso, 16-15, in the semifinals. Soto belted 46 bombs in total in the event. Alonso went on to win, eliminating Trey Mancini of the Orioles by a count of 23 homers to 22 in the final round.
Soto, 23, was also named to his second-career All-Star roster in 2022.
