Victor Robles had quite the response to Madison Bumgarner during Sunday’s game between the Washington Nationals and Arizona Diamondbacks.

A day after the Diamondbacks southpaw called Robles a “clown” for admiring a home run, the Nationals outfielder decided to wear a red clown nose while sitting in the Washington dugout in a move to troll Bumgarner.

Robles had hit his third home run of the season off of Bumgarner in the eighth inning of a game the Nationals were trailing 7-1, something Bumgarner was vocally annoyed about following the game.

When made aware of Bumgarner’s comments, Robles said through an interpreter, “when he’s pitching well, he’s able to celebrate and do what he likes to do. It seems like he calls everybody a clown that actually has a big hit or home run against him.

“If he doesn’t want anyone hitting a home run against him or having any issues with that, then just strike people out or make better pitches to where he doesn’t have to worry about that.”

The Diamondbacks and Nationals are both last-place teams with not much to play for, and do not meet again this season, but it appears an unexpected rivalry between Robles and Bumgarner has been borne out of this series.
