Yankees acquire Amed Rosario from Nationals for RHP Clayton Beeter, low-level prospect

The Nats' trade deadline sale has begun, as the Yankees have acquired infielder/outfielder Amed Rosario from Washington in exchange for RHP Clayton Beeter and minor-league OF Browm Martínez.

Rosario, 29, has slashed .270/.310/.426 with 5 home runs, 18 RBI, and 19 runs scored with the Nats this season - but where he will really help the Yankees is against left-handed pitching, as he has slashed .299/.333/.483 with 7 doubles, 3 HR and 5 walks in 87 at-bats against southpaws.

He can also help with his versatility, and he has appeared defensively this season at third base (24G/20GS), second base (16G/13GS), shortstop (1G) and right field (1G), and has also played 18 games in center and seven in left in his nine Major League seasons with the Mets, Guardians, Dodgers, Rays, Reds, and Nats.

Beeter, 26, has made two relief appearances for the Yankees this season, allowing six earned runs and a 2.45 WHIP in 3 2/3 innings. He has spent most of the year at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, going 1-0 with two saves and a 3.10 ERA, with 33 strikeouts against 16 walks, in 20 1/3 innings over 18 appearances.

Martínez, 18, has batted .404 with 3 HR, 16 RBI, and 13 steals in 18 games in the rookie-level Dominican Summer League this year. He was originally signed as an international amateur free agent in January 2024.
