The NFL clearly had high expectations for the Broncos this season when they decided to inundate fans with primetime matchups featuring Denver.

Thus far, the result has not exactly been captivating football.

The Broncos are set to host the Indianapolis Colts on Thursday Night Football in a matchup of teams that probably should be delivering a better brand of football than they have four weeks into the season.

Denver was supposed to have a high-flying offense headlined by prized offseason addition Russell Wilson. Instead, they 2-2 and have scored more than 20 points in a game just once, which was their 32-23 loss Sunday to the previously winless Las Vegas Raiders.

Then there’s Indy, which brought in Matt Ryan this offseason after narrowly missing the postseason last year. They’ve responded with a 1-2-1 record, and will be without star running back Jonathan Taylor on Thursday.

Injuries and underperformance can’t be forecasted. But, for some reason, the NFL put three of Denver’s first five games in primetime, and fans apparently have had enough.

By the way: If you’re among those tired of seeing the Broncos, then it’s probably best to not look at who the Chargers are facing on Monday Night Football next week.
