Chiefs' Chris Jones says Jets are 'very good football team' despite winless record

The New York Jets may make the laughingstock of the NFL, but not to Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones.

When the veteran Pro Bowler was asked about the Chiefs’ upcoming matchup with the 0-7 Jets this week, Jones provided quite the quote.

“That’s a very good football team,” he said, per ESPN’s Adam Teicher. “People tend to forget that because they haven’t won a game.”

Well, um, OK sure.

Perhaps it is not so much as forgetting as it is more that they are what their record says they are, to borrow a phrase from Bill Parcells.

Of course, the Chiefs are the defending champions and championship teams do not usually take any games for granted, no matter how inferior the opponent may be, which could very well be what Jones is doing.

Either way, if you thought maybe the Chiefs would overlook the Jets this week that does not appear to be the case, which spells more bad news for the Jets.
