Andy Reid showed over the weekend that he can do more than coach.
During the Kansas City Chiefs’ Sunday Night Football win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, a new State Farm ad dropped. Mahomes is one of the insurance company’s most prominent celebrity spokespeople, and there have been plenty of cameos from noteworthy folks from the football world in their ads.
That includes Reid, who did a pretty good job in the latest commercial.
During his weekly appearance on “The Drive”, Mahomes told the story of how the interview came about.
“Yeah, it was funny. They asked me about the idea and I was like ‘Man, I’ll ask him, but I just don’t know if he’ll do it.’” Mahomes said. “When I asked him he asked me ‘Do you want me to?’ I was like ‘Yeah, I think it will be cool for people to see your personality on a different level, a different scale.’
“I got there and he crushed it. He’s a natural at that type of stuff. Whenever he just lets his personality show and kind of relaxes and you don’t see that mean Coach Reid, you see how much personality has. I think it’s probably my best commercial yet, and I think he stole the show and was the main guy."
Does that mean we might get another appearance from Reid in a Mahomes ad?
“I always have interest in bringing all my teammates and coaches into all the stuff I do outside of football,” Mahomes said. "We’ll see if we can get Coach Reid into some different stuff, I don’t know how much more he’ll want to do, but it’s definitely cool to have him in one. I’m in one with Travis (Kelce) now, and hopefully we can keep that thing rolling with everyone.”
Whether it was a one-off or the start of something recurring, Reid did a solid job.
