NBA player props: 3 best bets for Thursday, March 4

We get another action packed night in the NBA, with nine games on the slate. That many games means many ballers to choose from for the player prop bet pool. I’ll go with Heat-Pelicans as tonight’s game of the day. Zion Williamson vs. Jimmy Butler and co. will be fun to watch, regardless of the result. Currently, New Orleans is a 3-point favorite and the total is set to 227.

As for today’s best NBA bets, player props are a fun way to wager on NBA games even if you don't like a side or total. I like to find matchups that I can exploit or good situations due to injuries.

Let’s dive into a couple of these scenarios now.

Russell Westbrook UNDER 23.5 points

Westbrook comes into today averaging 20 points per game (PPG). The last time these two teams matched up, Russ went for 20 as well.

Tonight the Wizards face a strong defense in the Clippers that have the length and speed to stay with Westbrook. LAC is 6th in points allowed and field goals allowed. They are also very good at rebounding the ball, ranking 2nd in rebounds allowed. This will negate some of those grab a board and go coast-to-coast kind of points Westbrook gets.

RW has also gone under this mark in four out of his five last games. Unless he hits a couple of threes, which is highly unlikely, I like him to stay under this number.

Zion Williamson OVER 34.5 points and rebounds

Williamson is a tank. If you follow my props posts, you know how much I love him. Currently he averages 25.6 PPG and 7.2 rebounds per game.

The last time he faced off against Miami he went for 32 points and 14 rebounds, and I envision a similar kind of output tonight. The Heat struggle at rebounding the ball and currently rank 23rd in offensive rebounds allowed.

There is also a chance that Miami’s best defender and rebounder, Bam Adebayo, misses the game. If that happens, lookout. But, even if he plays, I still like Zion to do work.

New Orleans is coming off of a loss to Chicago in a game where Zion missed eight free throws. Williamson stayed on the court after the game to practice his free throws, so I think he will be motivated tonight and shoot better from the line.

I have him in the 27 points and 10 boards range, so I like this number.

Gary Trent Jr. OVER 18.5 points

Trent is averaging 15.1 PPG, but that number has jumped up to 18.1 over his last ten games. He has filled in admirably for CJ McCollum and is a big part of their offense. If its not Dame or Melo getting up shorts, it is Trent, so the volume should be there tonight.

He also is going up against the worst defense in the NBA, the Sacramento Kings. Sac-town ranks last in a ton of key defensive metrics including points allowed, defensive rating, field goals allowed and in defending the three-ball.

The number is a little higher than I was expecting, but this is purely a matchup play against an extremely bad defense.
