We now know that indeed, Ted Leonsis has a proposed deal to move the Capitals and Wizards to the Potomac Yard site in Alexandria, Virginia…but also apparently wants to keep part of Monumental Sports’ footprint in DC.
We also know that this afternoon, DC Mayor Muriel Bowser and City Council Chair Phil Mendelson will hold a press conference, likely to discuss the unanimously-supported package of $500 million the city is offering Leonsis to help refurbish Capital One Arena.
Prior to Wednesday morning’s presser announcing that all, Eric Bickel and Jason Bishop took a look at both sides of the coin, discussing why the arena and the teams should stay in DC, and why (or if) moving and putting a new arena in NoVa is a good idea. Take a listen to both above!
