If the second time was the charm for the Commanders, what’s a third time?
One of the IT Cadre listener questions for Austin Ekeler’s visit to Grant & Danny was what it’s like playing a team for a third time in a season, which is something that can really only happen in the postseason – and in this case, since the Commanders won last time, does anything change?
“I was talking to Johnny Newton about it in the locker room, because he was like, ‘man, third time playing (the Eagles),’” Ekeler told G&D. “I was like, well, at least now we know who they are; we know their players, we know what they're about and their strengths and weaknesses, and I’m sure game planning for the coaches is a little bit easier too, because you know what to expect.”
And as it goes with the Eagles, who are in their third NFC Championship Game in eight seasons, it’s cool for Ekeler and the upstart Commanders to have this chance, something he similarly felt with the Chargers chasing the Chiefs – now in their SEVENTH STRAIGHT AFC Title Game.
“It’s really cool because it's a team that's in our division, and now we're kind of like the new kid on the block, the new arrival,” Ekeler said. “With the Chargers, we were always chasing KC, and now here, we’re chasing a team that’s kind of been in that seat, and now we have an opportunity to knock them off in one of the biggest games of the year.”
