This is not a joke, fart wise or other – the Commanders have cut the Cheese.
Finally, months after Ron Rivera brought in other possible long-snapper candidates, and weeks after he said they would “see if and when something happens and go from there,” and hours after two bad snaps cost the team a PAT and almost a punter, Camaron Cheeseman was waived on Monday.
“Frankly this should have come a couple months ago…too little too late,” JP said. “There was no concern one month ago, but this is indicative of the lack of urgency that seems to accompany most decisions within the organization.”
JP went all the way to signing Ryan Fitzpatrick as he went through a series of Band-Aids and excuses we’ve seen in the Ron Rivera era, moves “indicative of a dude who does not push the gas to try to win now.”
“This was the right move, but you’re 4-10, and it’s been a problem all year,” JP exhorted. “There was wonder if Cheese got injured, but he also switched up his technique for some reason.”
“His first year, he was real good – why change your stuff when you come back the next year?” BMitch wondered. “You can try to enhance things, but why change it.”
Was the lack of a move all along just Ron Rivera not wanting to admit a mistake?
“I don’t know, but whenever you draft someone and this happens, no matter how you deal with it, it’s going to always come back to you,” BMitch said. “I don’t understand the hesitancy. A lot of times things are reactionary, but he’s done enough all year to have been let go already.”
It may seem like small potatoes to many, but BMitch explained why the specialists are, perhaps, the most important players on the roster.
“Every time he snaps, it’s chunk yardage and points. Every time a kicker is kicking, he’s dealing with points, and with Tress, he can flip the field and pin you back,” Brian said.
Take a listen above to that convo, along with the one the guys had at the top of the show about Cheeseman’s snapping issues!
