So, as you probably heard on the Junkies when EB went nuts on it, Ron Rivera was on Adam Schefter’s podcast and mentioned he broached drafting a QB in 2020 instead of Chase Young (with it being Herbert over Tua?), and said if he was still here, Jayden Daniels likely would’ve been his pick this year.
“Ron pretty much had full control here for four years, and we all know about how well it went – not very well,” JP Finlay said.
“To be honest with you, I couldn’t care less what he would have done, because he's not here to do it,” BMitch replied. “He said that Sam was the guy and that they were gonna be moving forward with him, so all of a sudden you're gonna just switch course?”
Yes, it seems, and that’s the problem B has with the Rivera era overall: no conviction.
“My problem is he has always said the things that fit the situation, you know what I mean?” Brian said. “So I can’t care less about what he says at this point. I don’t like revisionist history, or after the fact answers like that. What else would he have said, you’re not gonna draft him? And then the rest of the league says cool, you’ll never get a job again because everybody else would’ve.”
“I like Ron, and I was more interested in him saying that he thinks Kliff can build an offense for Jayden than what he would have done if he had the second overall pick,” JP replied. “In reality, we saw him have the second pick, and he didn’t take a QB! I know Chase was supposed to be the truth and things happened, he got hurt, and I recognize the extenuating circumstance of the time with masks and Snyder perhaps more importantly, but still, l agree with you that I don't care.”
JP then said we don’t need to draw a lot of conclusions from it, and…yeah, hindsight is 20/20, after all.
